Astorcare Family & Wellness Services is a Houston-based family wellness organization dedicated to providing compassionate, integrative care through every stage of life. From pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support to newborn, childcare, senior care, and holistic wellness services, our mission is to help families thrive with personalized, relationship-centered care.

Independent contractor and employee positions across the Houston area

Birth Doula

Contractor

Support families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum transition with compassionate, evidence-based care.

What we're looking for
  • At least 3 supported vaginal births (C-section experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge of birth terminology and hospital culture
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Ability to be on call for births

  • Placenta Encapsulation Certification (optional)
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Certification (required if providing placenta services)

Postpartum Doula

Contractor

Care for the whole family after birth, supporting newborn care, maternal recovery, and the rhythm of the household.

What we're looking for
  • Completed postpartum training, or currently enrolled with completion expected within 45 days of applying
  • Current CPR/BLS certification for infants and adults
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Flexible weekday, evening, weekend, and overnight availability

Experience we look for
  • 6+ months of postpartum, newborn, nanny, or maternal health experience
  • Experience supporting breastfeeding families
  • Knowledge of newborn care, safe sleep, and infant soothing techniques
  • Lactation, newborn care specialist, or sleep consultant certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of maternal mental health and postpartum mood disorders

Responsibilities
  • Assist with newborn care, including feeding support, diapering, soothing, swaddling, bathing, and establishing routines
  • Support maternal recovery after birth
  • Assist with light household tasks related to the baby and postpartum recovery
  • Encourage rest and healthy recovery habits
  • Observe and report concerns while remaining within the doula scope of practice
  • Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Document visits according to Astorcare standards

Nanny & Childcare

Contractor

Provide dependable, nurturing care in family homes, from occasional help to a regular weekly schedule.

What we're looking for
  • 1+ year of professional childcare, nanny, or early childhood experience
  • Current CPR/BLS certification for infants and children
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Early childhood education coursework or a CDA
  • Newborn or multiples experience

Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive, age-appropriate care and supervision
  • Plan simple activities that support play and development
  • Prepare meals and snacks and handle feeding routines
  • Keep nap and bedtime routines consistent with the family's wishes
  • Tidy the spaces used by the children
  • Communicate clearly with parents about how the day went
  • Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries

Caregiver (Adult & Senior)

Contractor

Provide compassionate in-home support that helps adults and seniors maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.

What we're looking for
  • Previous caregiving, CNA, HHA, or related experience preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Compassionate, dependable, and patient demeanor
  • Reliable transportation

Bring your speciality to Astorcare families, whether that is lactation support, nutrition, herbal wellness, bodywork, or mental health.

What we're looking for
  • Current license or certification in your speciality
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
  • 1+ year of practice working directly with clients
  • Reliable transportation for in-home or community sessions

Volunteer

Help at community events, wellness workshops, and family drives across the Houston area. No certification needed, just a few hours and a good heart.

What we're looking for
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Comfortable around families and children in group settings
  • Availability for occasional weekends
  • Ability to pass a background check for events involving children

We work alongside other doulas, practitioners, and agencies across Houston, and we refer out gladly when a family needs something outside our scope or when our calendar is full.
